Schnee by Melanie Berg

Evoking hushed drifts of fresh snow (Schnee, in German), this heavenly soft shawl adds a touch of elegance to any outfit.

The two halves of the rectangular shawl are individually knit on the bias, then joined together with a 3-needle bind-off. The shawl’s stripes come from alternating rows of silk mohair held alone and silk mohair held with another merino yarn. Absolutely gorgeous.

We recommend Ito Sensai for the silk mohair and Ito Kosho for the merino

Gauge is 20 sts x 34 rows to 4 inches in pattern blocked on size US 3 needles

Meadow Lace Scarf by Evelyn A. Clark

This has been in our favorites for so long. A classic triangle shawl made so much more fun by the additions of garter stitch and a simple floral lace motif. A great beginner lace project and a fabulous way to use some beautiful cashmere yarns!! How beautiful would this be made with the slightly tweedy Ito Karei Cashmere?

We recommend Cardiff Cashmere Small, Ito Karei, or Trendsetter Spirit for this project. Any option would be gorgeous. You will need 220 yards of fingering weight yarn.

Gauge is 22 sts to 4 inches in stockinette stitch on US 4 needles.

Shawl is approximately 13 inches deep x 32 inches wide when finished.

Skylar Shawl Scarf by Rastus Hsu

Would you just look at this gorgeous piece?! The colorwork is so simple yet so beautiful and the finished piece is definitely a shawl to treasure. We think it would be absolutely perfect made with Ito Kosho held with Ito Sensai.

We recommend Ito Kosho held with Ito Sensai or Önling No. 2

Pattern is one size.

Garter Breeze by Stephen West

Lily made this last year using Illimani Sabri as the base and Ito Shio held triple for the border and it came out wonderfully. The cotton and alpaca blend of Sabri makes it the perfect weight for any season and soft as can be. She opted for using a solid color but it’s a great pattern to have fun with. It’s also a great pattern to learn and practice the German Short Row method!

We recommend Illimani Sabri for the main body and Ito Shio for the border (one cone is enough for the edge you just have to wind it into 3 little balls).

Gauge is: 20 sts x 52 rows to 4 inches in garter stitch on size US 6 needles.

Pattern is available in 3 sizes and you will need approximately 1200 yards of fingering weight yarn.

Karo Shawl by Julia Wilkens

This shawl is such a great design with the interplay between the grid and the knit garter stitch base. It’s stunning to look at and would be so much fun to wear. It is also such a great size. When made with a lovely yarn we think it would be hard to take it off.

We recommend using Cardiff Cashmere Classic for that beautiful feel and softness. Ito Kosho held with Ito Sensai for a subtle halo, or Isager Alpaca 2 for a slightly more rustic look but no less beautiful.

Gauge: 20 stitches x 48 rows to 4 inches in garter stitch on US 2 1/2 needles

You will need approx 980 yards/900 meters of fingering weight yarn.

Winter’s Fern by Trin-Annelie

Flora’s Cap by Churchmouse Yarn and Teas

This hat has a beautiful combination of drape and texture with the mohair blend and the seed stitch. A simple knit and a beautiful result, this hat should be a fun project for anyone.

We recommend: either 2 strands of Ito Sensai (you will need 2 skeins) held together for a light as air feel or 1 strand of Isager Alpaca 1 held with 1 strand of Ito Sensai for something a bit warmer.

You can see in Judith’s swatches in the photo to the left. The swatch on the left is the Sensai with Alpaca 1 and on the right is 2 strands of Sensai.

Gauge: 22 stitches to 4 inches in seed stitch using US 3

Soft as a Cloud Cowl by Purl Soho

These are a fantastic project to make as a gift! Three variations of cables to choose from, simple to make, and a great one skein project. Lovely with cashmere (especially the new tweedy cashmere from Ito!).

Trellis Wrap by Purl Soho

This is a great project to highlight a special yarn. It’s a simple stitch to knit and it looks deceptively difficult and you end up with a really beautiful object to wear. Great for yarns that have a beautiful halo or sheen to them. Lily made her version on the left out of Önling and it is a delight to wear!

We recommend Illimani Santi with it’s beautiful quality from the fiber blend of yak and silk, or Önling No. 1 for more halo.

Gauge is 18 sts x 30 rows to 4 inches in pattern on size US 7 needles.

You will need approximately 940 yards of DK or sport weight yarn.

Could these look anymore comfortable? Absolute coziness for the wintery months whether to simply wear around the house or under your boots when you venture out.

We recommend using: Blue Sky Woolstok or Isager Alpaca 3 for extra cushy socks.

Penny Gloves by Petite Knit

A simple but beautiful pair of fingerless gloves made even more stunning by using cashmere. A wonderful gift for someone and a fun project to make. These are a great length to make sure to keep your wrists warm and also have just enough shaping so they fit your hands well.

We recommend using Cardiff Cashmere Classic for that beautiful feel and softness.

You will need 152 yards/139 meters of sport weight yarn.

Finished measurements: 82 x 16 inches

Handwritten Wrap by Purl Soho

This wrap is made with a simple slip stitch repeat that makes small flecks and lines with the two different colors that mimics handwriting. It’s so beautiful when it’s knit up and Lily is working on one using Ito Kosho in the colors Angora and Charcoal. Two other great yarn suggestions are the Illimani Sabri which is a summer cotton blend or Isager Alpaca 2. Play with your color options as the pattern is so great for mixing two shades or even a subtle combination like Kosho in Angora and Light Grey would make a stunning finished piece.

The pattern comes in two sizes so make sure to double check the yardage you will need.

Gauge: 24 stitches x 36 rows to 4 inches on size US 9.

Purl Soho’s Mistake Rib Scarf

This is a wonderfully simple shawl that has a gorgeous texture to it. It’s super comfortable to wear and the two yarns we are inspired to use are Blue Sky Baby Alpaca or Önling No 1.
